EZCORP and Boys & Girls Clubs of The Austin Area to Host Boys & Girls Clubs of America National Youth of the Year Trei Dudley

AUSTIN, Texas (October 24, 2013) — EZCORP, Inc., a leading provider of easy cash solutions for consumers, announced today that EZCORP Foundation and Boys & Girls Clubs of the Austin Area will host a visit by the Club’s 2012-2013 National Youth of the Year, Trei Dudley. On Monday October 28th, Trei will share her story with students at the Gus Garcia Middle School and Lanier High School Boys and Girls Clubs

During the 10 years she spent as a member of the Boys & Girls Club of Lawrence in Kansas, Trei overcame significant obstacles in her life, and in 2012, Trei was selected as National Youth of the Year. Established in 1947, Youth of the Year is Boys and Girls Club’s premier recognition program for Club members, promoting service to Club, community and family; academic success; strong moral character; life goals; and poise and public speaking ability. The National Youth of the Year is installed by the President of the United States. As Youth of the Year, Trei has been the voice for nearly 4 million Boys and Girls Club members and young people nationwide. Trei is currently a sophomore at the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville studying Business Management.

Paul Rothamel, President and Chief Executive Officer of EZCORP said, “Trei serves as an inspiration to all youth. Like Trei, we are actively engaged in our communities and are committed to making a difference not only in the community as a whole, but in the lives of individuals. Stories like Trei’s are the reason we support Boys and Girls Clubs of America.”

Mark A. Kiester, Chief Executive Officer of Boys & Girls Clubs of the Austin Area, is excited to bring Trei to Austin. “Trei is an excellent example of how Boys & Girls Clubs across the nation and here in Austin are positively impacting the lives of millions of kids who come from very tough circumstances. Kids, because of their Boys & Girls Club experience, can rise beyond those circumstances to develop into productive, responsible and caring citizens from Austin to Maine to Alaska.

“Trei’s visit is very timely for our members here in Austin because we are just beginning our high school and middle school Youth of the Year competition and they can learn a lot from their visit with Trei.”
